Devlog #05 - Production Sprint 01 - Week 02


Hi everyone!

 

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Despite taking a break, our team has been hard at work on our game. Let me share some exciting progress with you!

 

Build progress:

Our programmers have made significant advancements, including:

  • The ability for players to grab weapons and use them to eliminate other players
  • When a player dies, they lose their weapon
  • Implementing a usage limit, causing weapons to break after a certain number of uses
  • Players now have different colours, which are also displayed in the HUD
  • With the weapons in place, we've also added a scoring system


Additionally, our programmers have been working on the Giant Farmer's Foot. It can now descend from the sky and leaves a grey shadow on the ground a few seconds before it falls, serving as a warning to players to run away or try to push their enemies under it!

 

Art progress:

Our artists have been busy creating concept art and models for the character, weapons, scenery, and the Giant Farmer's Foot. As we discussed during the brainstorming phase, our game will have two types of weapons. We voted on the best weapon concepts through our Discord server and we've chosen a carrot-thrower as the long-range weapon and a cooking pan as the short-range weapon. The models are already done and are waiting to be added to the game. Here's a sneak peek at some of the concepts:





Moreover the models of the two final weapon choices (the cooking pan and the carrot gun) have been created.



 

In addition to that, the character model is finally finished and added to the game! Our artists have also been fine-tuning the camera rotation to achieve the desired perspective for our game area. Furthermore, other concept arts on level design have been completed as well.

 

We are really happy with the progress we have made so far and can't wait to share more updates with you in the future!
